our experience
From 1997 to 2000 we provided a Sports Massage service for Loughborough University, their
teams on site, and general student population. During this period we travelled with teams on
warm weather training camps, and to athletics and swimming competitions held both home and
away.
In 2000 Active relocated, and opened a clinic on the Ashby Road in Loughborough, Leicestershire,
still continuing to provide a sports massage service to various sporting organisations, but also
widening our service taking in the local and business community.
Since 2000 we have continued to develop our services, though we continue to work at National
and International Sporting events, and with a variety of sports organisations. However, our
primary focus now is aiding the private individual.
Sports for which our practitioners have supplied services include, athletics, badminton, basketball,
cricket, fencing, hockey, martial arts, netball, squash, soccer, swimming, rugby, tennis, and
volleyball. Current and former clients include corporate organisations, local/national sports teams
and performers, NHS patients, and many other private individuals.

If you are an event organiser or are connected to charities that would like the presence of a
massage team to support your event, we are usually able to supply a team and supervisor - great
experience for our students at ASCT.

with the SMA)

Index/Home/About Us
Active Recovery are a mother and daughter team (Tanya and Kirsty Milne) specialising in Deep
Tissue massage techniques. We have been operating a massage service in the East Midlands
(Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire) for more than ten years. The company was formed
in 1997 to provide a full Sports Massage Service to sports clubs and athletes within the
Charnwood area, Leicestershire, and to organisations whose personnel are exposed to heavy
physical exertion during the course of their normal working routine, e.g. the Emergency Services.
In addition to offering a therapeutic service to athletes and other sports persons, our aims include
promoting the benefits of Complementary Therapies to a wider clientele than that of the sport and
athletic community. We also help to support both local and national charities - see below - and we
operate the Active School of Complementary Therapy (ASCT).
In April 2008 we relocated to new premises, the Gaia Centre for Holistic Therapy in Frederick
Street (see location page), in order to provide opportunities for local therapists to offer a wider
range of therapies to our clientele. It is also the base from which ASCT will operate.
